Day 3 Mothman Conspiracies, Murals, side stories and Kentucky hates me

Today was a travel day. From New River Gorge to Mammoth Cave, National Park to National Park and lots of  fun side stories and pictures.

I got up farly early to make sure all was well and because yesterday I got to Cathedral Cafe and they had been open at 730. So I figured I can get some time made up. Yeah no. They did not open till 8. So I wandered around Fayetteville. Did you know this was where the military came up with indirect firing? Now you know.

Then returned for breakfast and today I tried the spinach, mushroom and artichoke heart frittata. It was good. But I think I really like omelets better. I google the difference and omelets coming to you hot just hits the spot for me.

Side story from Cathedral Cafe.  A couple came in and the lady had a service dog. The manager asked the lady if she papers to prove it. The lady was taken back and asked why. The manager told them that the county health inspector says they have to look at them. The manager though let them stay anyway!

Off to Point Pleasant WV I went and that was a lot of fun. A few tidbits of the travel. I crossed the 38th parallel. Also in West Virginia Speed Limits are definitely just recommended not followed. A WV State Trooper blew by met at 100. I may or may not have been doing 80 in a 60 in the far right lane.

Point Pleasant has this amazing River Front park with an awesome mural full of the history of the area. Its amazing work. I am going to post several here but there were so many. When the trip is done I will upload the whole patch to my flckr account like I did in 2019.

I will be honest here. As I was taking these pictures my thought was yeah lets show how all the white folks came and killed the Native Americans and took their land. That sound's awesome.

Mothman Museum. That is why we are here!! Okay the museum was so full of stuff lots of reading but it is very small. In fact super small. The gift shop is a tad bit bigger. But man such cool stuff

What? You wanted something else???OHHHH the Mothman Statue... yeah that's a thing and apparently well something else is a thing I learned from a sticker in the store. I swear...

Seriously folks, touching the "shiney hiney" is a thing. And of course well... Baaaa.... I am sheep. We would continue onward to Kentucky so more of my musings.

Along old Highway 35, seriously, that is what it was called. There was a church next to an adult book store. Sins and forgiveness right there I guess. Only in WV. 

Also, when people are selling produce on the side of the road, how do you know its local and not local Kroger? 

Did drive by this cool place, wish I had been hungry. It was called Hillbilly Hot Dogs. It had a wrecked van up in a tree on a hill with the name of the place on the side. It looked awesome.

Finally made it to Kentucky!! What the hell. I have been lied to all my life. The grass is not blue!!! WTAF. Just false advertising. This was state number 47 that I have visited. Only Michigan is left for the the lower 48.

One more side story... maybe two ... was driving out of Lexington. All happy and I look to the side and I do a double take because I have whiplash. There was an absolutely holy hell real castle!! If I had not already jacked up by time table for the day I should have stopped but I only think i would have gotten walls... but yeah here you go folks.  https://www.thekentuckycastle.com.

And yea there was a 20 foot tall cow statue right before I hit the Mammoth Cave area. I just don't know about this place.

I get to my KOA. 

That is not my view and its practically 100 degrees out. The tent site I get is craptacular. Was not the easiest getting the tent up.  I then look up the place I was going to go to dinner. They are closed. Down in Cave City though I find Enrique and Jennifer Reyna's Tavern, It is a wonderful place with an incredibly ridiculous burger. The food was good and they were doing Karaoke. Both owners are vets and it was nice to support them on their endeavor.

When I got back to the campsite it still felt like 90 and my shower was pointless.  I am not sure what is going to happen next. But at least I touched the shiney hiney!
