Day 20 - North Cascades National Park

First off just driving to North Cascades is something else. They do not call it the Cascades Loop for nothing. Amazing vistas on all of it. Now I only will have seen just under 3/4 of the loop. Check it out here https://www.cascadeloop.com/. But what I saw was amazing. Methow Valley and the Cascades are just glorious. The Columbia River winding its way up to the Methow all just beautiful. I would hop on the loop just north of Chelan Falls.

I say all this because honestly I was underwhelmed with both hikes. I think I have reached the end of my trip and thus am running empty on the gee whiz factor.

First up was Thunder Knob Trail. A busy 4 mile out and back trail. The end brings you to a very cool overlook of Thunder Arm and Diablo Lake. Overall a nice trail. I was really amused by the ladder bridge and the lady doing her selfies at the top. But overall it was a pleasant trip.

Second trail was Pyramid Lake. All Trails describes it as a 'Discover this 3.9-mile out-and-back trail near Marblemount, Washington. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 41 min to complete."

It took me just about 2 hours and 20 minutes. I was pushing myself and it is a hard trail. It was nice and empty of people for the most part which made the trip worth it. I will admit I failed on my job as an explorer by not going further down along the lake. From my first view point it looked like a Mosquitos pond and did not want to check it out anymore. Plus that hike up had kicked my ass. I think if I had gone down closer I would have been a bit more impressed. Maybe .
