Boston, MA

Well here we are the end of day one in Boston. To say it wasn't eventful would be an understatement. My original plan for the day was to walk as much of the Freedom Trail as I could. Now that said I would have kept going in any way shape or form. Now the girls on the other hand were not fans of the rain. It was a big storm and understandably they were not happy with the first part of the day. I do sometimes have a hard time realizing some people just will not push on like myself. That is just a thing.
With that out of the way let me recap a wonderful day, really it was. First off Finagle a Bagel right across from Copley Square and it was a yummy start to the day. I also should point out there are tons of Fallout 4 references in this blog post as all of us have played the game and loved it so we well saw stuff from it.
First stop was Trinity Church and "Trinity Tower" okay really it is the John Hancock building. The church is pretty cool with some amazing reliefs carved on the outside.
Next stop the Central location of the Boston Public Library. If you ever get to Boston you have to check out the McKim building. The pictures in this post hardly give it justice. From the elaborate Grand Staircase to the serious yet beautiful looking Bates Hall. My favorite was easily the Abbey Hall with the beautiful murals showing Sir Galahads search for the Holy Grail. One of my all time favorite Arthurian legends.
After the Library we made our way past Old South Church and into the Boston Public Gardens and Boston Commons. This is when the rain hit and we attempted to get some Starbucks in a very heavily populated spot. The long wait and tons of rain further dampened our spirits and forced us to head back home as none of us had rain gear.
After a brief stint out in the world i dragged the kids to a McDonalds because well it was there. We then truly got moving on our Freedom Trail adventure. At the start the girls were accosted by a fat squirrel and Cara did a good job of reading up on what we were seeing and doing. I always enjoy hearing her voice go over the details with glee. From the Massachusetts State House to the Old Granary Burying Ground to King's Chapel to Old State House and the Old Corner Bookstore it was a treat seeing all these places from Fallout 4 in reality and learning their actual place in history.
It also did not escape our notice that Faneuil Hall is a fallout shelter. Was pretty funny to the three of us.
After the hall we did end up heading back home as it was a long day of walking and the heat had got ratched up a bit after the early rainfall.
