Mystic, CT and Boston, MA

Today was suppose to be a nice quiet day. Along the coast and up to Boston. Oh but no. Let us call it the "Cash Breakfast Crisis." And damn it Dad does not handle these well.

We stopped at well reviewed Lakeside Diner. It really is a great little place. I loved it. Breakfast was exactly what we needed. Of course they charged for refills. Now that wouldn't have been a problem if I had been paying attention. Needless to say when I started going through all my cash. I did not have enough. I of course being the crappy Dad I am at times. Targeted Cara and her extra milk for the problem when in reality of course it was me. I should have remembered cash only.

Cara saved the day. She got what little money she had left cash wise and we were able to get out of there with just my ego in shamble and Cara of course mad at me. Rightfully so.

We meandered up along the coast to the town of Old Saybrook where the girls moved from the back to the front seat and Dad took a break from driving. Honestly this trip was not that bad but I didn't mind the break today. Cara did a wonderful job getting us into Mystic and over the famous Mystic Drawbridge. We found some parking and checked out the local Museum of Art and saw some very cool local artists work.

After that it was off to the famous Mystic Pizza. The night before I made sure the girls watched the movie. After some great pizza we got some wonderful ice cream at the Mystic Sweet Shop and then it was off to Boston.

We made great time and got there. Thanks to the girls we were able to set up a decent parking spot in a garage. I just needed to leave it there till Sunday night when we would take a quick road trip and then back to Boston where the parking was free again. But first we parked and well . . I guess I misread the AirBNB description. It ended up being 5 flights of stairs... the very last "apartment" more like a studio. But hey it was really nicely located but those stairs. Damn. So we made it up the stairs and back out to eat before we died for the night. Another successful day for us.
