Day 7 - Penobscot Mt, Gorman MT.. the final day

Image
This was it. Today was the final day. I would be leaving a day early due to time constraints and more bad weather. With a 14 hour drive ahead of me it was time to  put in a few more awesome hikes. First off another wonderful breakfast at Jordans. Yeah they know me now. But those pancakes were so amazing!! On a suggestion today I headed back to Jordan Pond to grab Spring Trail and head up to Penobscot Mountain. It was a great suggestion and an amazing hike. Spring Trail is actually a pretty nifty trail zipping back along the cliff face with far less scary moments then Precipice. So this felt like cake walk. Even though not very hard it was a steep trail with lots of rock scramble fun. Once I managed Spring Trail it hit Penobscot Trail and up we went at a steady incline over giant rock slabs. Was actually really cool. Completely open to the winds. It was so crazy and the views were stunning. 360 degrees around Acadia of just amazing. At the top.. the wind wow!!! Going back down...

Day 6 - Where John make's a questionable life choice

Well I am writing this blog post. That is a good thing. Today was a great day. But there were moments where me writing this post were probably suspect. Let's start from the beginning. I tried a new breakfast place out, Everyday Joe's. Interestingly enough this place was on my list originally and then it said it was closed. But apparently the place was bought and reopened. I think this week was the first week it was back open. Breakfast was massive blueberry pancakes and some eggs. They hit the spot.  As you may have learned reading this blog I have been changing stuff on the fly a lot. Today was going to be a nice day so I had planned on hitting the Gorham Mt Trail. As I was heading along Park Loop Road towards the parking lot for Gorham I saw the parking lot for Precipice Trail. A trail I had originally planned to do but had backed off due to the rain. I slowed and in my mind the decision was made. You really do only live once and you can not let these moments slip by. Preci...

Day 5 - Little Long Pond Loop Trail, Bar Harbor, Great Head Trail

So the weather was expected to be bad all day. Rain coming in early then a small break and then more rain. I decided I was at least going to have an awesome breakfast so off to Jordan's I went for a great breakfast. The rain was coming as I finished my meal. I headed back to Seal Harbor to figure out something to do for the day. As I pulled in the rain was light so I decided to head over to Little Long Pond and see what that was about around 730. Maybe I could get a walk in as the rain was breaking. I got a bit in as the wind and rain started. By the end of the 2.5 mile hike with no one in sight the rain had broke and it was cool overcast day. After that walk is was back to the Lighthouse Inn to get dry a bit and than off to Bar Harbor. Got myself a new hat and some hot cider and wandered around for a bit. Then headed in to check out two super cool places the Jessup Memorial Library and the Abbe Museum. The library as the pictures show is just super cool. Love the old time librari...
