Day 2 - Time to Ride
Today was going to be all about riding the Carriage Trails and it did not disappoint.
Started out at Jordan's because well yeah good stuff was needed to start this day. Amazing breakfast. I actually had a wonderful conversation with a gentleman named Bill. Even way up here in Maine he knew I had to get home to Richmond, VA to vote on the 2nd. It turns out his wife was a Poli Sci expert at Harvard. They had recently even got to meet Supreme Court Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor. It was a refreshing conversation. Not sure I could have that kind of talk in Virginia. Oh yeah what a wonderful breakfast. Jordan's delivers with the amazing Maine wild blueberries! Yummy!
After breakfast went to the Hulls Cove Visitor Center to start why I cam here in the first place. To ride like there was no tomorrow. The Carriage Roads of Acaida beckoned and I was ready to tackle as much as I could. Over the next 4 1/2 hours I put 32.3 miles down criss-rossing all over Acadia, up and down mountains, zooming past lakes and ponds. It was amazing. I will not lie it was more than I expected. There were some steep parts that had me out of breath and walking to finish them. But wow what views
After those rides I now understand how much riding some of these folks must do to have those legs of steel. I do not have those ha ha.
After that ride I thought I was done but I decided to head up to the summit of Cadillac Mountain. Today being the last sunny day for a while I was so excited to just wander the summit. I went down the trail and along the bedrock hopping from stone to stone. Always just stunning views from up there.
After the amazing run hit up Side Street Cafe for an amazing dinner. Lobster Melt sandwich with an apple cider margarita and finished off with a warm slice of Blueberry Pie with Ice Cream. This was an amazing day from top to bottom.
