Day 4 - Ocean Path Trail
Fourth day in Acadia I was waiting for the storm to hit. What could I get done before everything went south for a couple days. It was already overcast as I headed to a new breakfast stop, 2 Cats. I had an amazing omelet with smoked trout. It came with a buttermilk biscuit with some amazing strawberry butter. It was sooo good.
I decided to just drive park loop and check things out. My first stop was Sand Beach and was enjoying the view. I looked around and it was a pretty empty parking lot. So being me I decided you know what I am going to walk Ocean Path anyway, who cares about this rain. It was a two mile hike along the shore line down to Otter Point and then back. It was only a light rain so I decided why not and off I went.
Along the shore line to Thunder Hole and onward to Otter Cliffs and then Otter Point. The pictures below and linked at the very bottom will show you the ocean as it crashes up against the shore line. Maine's coast is a rocky wonderland that you can literally hop along rocks all they way down if you wanted.
I walked around Bar Harbor a bit after this walk looking to see if they had a cool rain jacket that was worth buying. Nope. Then headed back to my home base. I decided that it was still nice out I would walk over to Long Pond Trail. This was my first bad decision. It looked so much closer on the map. 2nd bad decision was continuing to walk as the rain started to pick up and then it came crashing down. I decided to call it a day.
Ended up heading back to Bar Harbor for dinner. Tonight I tried Dog and Pony Tavern. It was basic pub food. A decent burger and regular fries. Really not much to write home about. Another day down and the storm was on the horizon.
