Day 1 - Garden of the Gods Hike ... But first lunch.
Before we get to the important stuff food and cool places let met tell you about driving around Denver. For this trip I did a grocery pickup at Walmart and camping gear from the most super awesome Outdoor Geeks LLC.
Walmart mostly went well getting there. After I started driving and realized my kid had changed a setting on the Garmin, her name is Susan. So for the rest of the blog that is who I am referring too. Susan the Navigator. So yea, Susan could not for the life of me take me the highway. And then I realized my kiddo had put avoid highways. Things would continue south after I fixed that part. Denver has so much road construction and of course it was right where I was.
After that though I got on the road and out of Denver. Flew by the neat looking Castle Rock.
Did a quick stop to check out the future aviators of America at the Air Force Academy training field.
Finally to the good stuff. LUNCH!! Okay I tried Beansprouts at the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center and Nature Center. I was sold by the view.
What did I have to eat on my very first meal on the trip. Well it was called the Great Turkado. Turkey, avocado, tomatoes, organic arugula, smoked paprika and honey aioli. It was a bit pricey for a sandwich. But it was actually really good.
The next part of the journey I would like to say I did on purpose. But no I just missed my parking lot. The original goal was to start a hike from the North Parking lot in Garden of the Gods. It is a one way street and once you miss .. you keep going. And so I smartly took the car tour of the Garden and got to see a lot of stuff before making it back it to the parking lot. Then I got out and hiked. This place is amazing. I took the Palmer Trail up along the ridge and that was awesome no one there but me and my team looking down into the Garden. It was a great hike which eventually lead back into the center of the garden where we did some rock climbing. There was some posing.
