Day 21 Estes Cone defeats me and Denver CO

Evening everyone well this is it. This is the final day of the trip. Tomorrow is a travel day back to the good ol RVA. So what happened today you might be asking. That is a good question.

Had a great breakfast at the Notchtop Cafe. This was a last minute change but was a decent breakfast. Then it was time to double check the Stanley Hotel. Yay got in and had a wonderful hot cider from the cafe and wandered around the areas I could. Now this was where I was mistaken. I could have sworn this hotel was used in the original Shining but it was not. It was used in the mini series only.

I did get some really cool pictures of the hotel though inside and out.

After that it was off to the Estes Cone Trail. The less said the better. Okay I knew it was long and that part was fine. Even the elevation was fine. What ended up killing me and defeating me was the Rock Scramble at the top. It is about just over a half mile of pure rock scramble. Something I have never ever done. I went in and was prob .3 miles from the top. I just did not have any energy left and was just beat. It defeated me and I am okay with that.

After that headed back to Denver for the beginning of the end. Did pass through what I think was the south St Vrain Canyon. It was pretty amazing actually. 

Once back in Denver turned in my camping gear and headed over to my AirBNB. Got some grub an beers at Green Valley Ranch Beer Garden which was actually pretty good for basically a mall.
